March 15, 2016: Financial aid opens
April 25, 2016: Financial aid applications due
May 6, 2016: Applicants notified of acceptance (or rejection) of financial aid requests
DEFNA (Django Events Foundation North America), The Django Software Foundation, the Python Software Foundation, and others have all donated to help DjangoCon meet the cost of tickets, travel, and accommodation for attendees who need financial support. We've got the funds to award to people who need financial help to attend DjangoCon, and we want YOU to apply for that funding! If you are a member of an underrepresented group and you won’t be able to attend DjangoCon US without financial help, we strongly encourage you to apply for financial aid.
The deadline for applications was on April 25, 2016. The DjangoCon US 2016 planning committee, with the help of the Django Software Foundation’s grants committee, will review financial aid applications and notify those who have been accepted by May 6, 2016. Because our budget is limited, preference will be given to potential speakers and tutorial leaders, and members of underrepresented groups.
